Meet Henry. Henry is 50 and works part-time in a clothing shop. Henry likes his job in retail but has been thinking of trying something different. He’s just not sure where to start. He hears about Workforce Australia Career Transition Assistance or CTA, a free Australian Government program helping individuals 45 and over build confidence and skills to re-enter the workforce or make a change to a new career.
Henry reads about CTA online and sees that he’s eligible. As a Workforce Australia participant his employment service provider arranges for him to participate in a CTA course. During the course Henry talks about his existing skills and experience and gets help to understand how his skills can lead to other job opportunities.
Henry receives help to improve and tailor his resume, practice his interview skills and gain more confidence using everyday workplace technology. He also picks up some great practical tips from some of the other course participants. Henry now feels a lot more confident that his skills and interests can help him find a new job outside retail so he adjusts his job searches online to broaden his job opportunities. With ongoing support from his CTA trainer and using everything he learned during the course Henry applies for and gets a new job.
It’s never too late to find or change jobs or reskill and find success in a new career. Ask your employment service provider about Career Transition Assistance or look up CTA online and start your journey.
