The Victorian Government has announced the state will resume its staged return to work plan as of Monday 18 January 2021.

This comes as Victoria records its eighth consecutive day of zero cases of community transmission.

From Monday 18 January, office workplaces will be able to revert to the previous onsite employee limit of 50%, and Victorian Public Service employees will be able to return to onsite work with a cap of 25%.

Employers must continue to keep a record of all workers and visitors who spend 15 minutes or more at the premises, and enforce their COVIDSafe plans.

Then from 11:59pm Sunday 17 January, Victoria will return to the previous rules that were in place around mask-wearing in certain workplaces. Under these rules, masks will only be mandatory in the following situations:

  • on all domestic flights
  • at airports
  • in hospitals
  • on public transport
  • in commercial passenger vehicles
  • at supermarkets
  • at other large indoor retail locations, including shopping centres.

Victorians must still carry a mask on them when they leave the house and should continue to wear one in situations where physical distancing isn't possible.
