Victoria’s design industry directly employs more than 195,000 people, contributes $7.3 billion annually to the state’s economy and generates an estimated $204 million in design-related exports.

Design is a key strategic business capability and enabler for Victorian businesses and communities to grow and develop, locally and globally.

As an important driver for innovation and growth, design plays a valuable role in businesses, industry and the broader community. Through the effective, sustainable and strategic use of design, we can develop new, more efficient ways of doing things – adding value to our standard of living, increasing exports, and improving productivity and economic prosperity.

Victorian Design Initiatives 2012-15
