Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Adem Somyurek, welcomes a large trade delegation from China’s Sichuan Province.
The Andrews Labor Government is proud to facilitate the visit, which will see more than 100 people participate in the inaugural Sichuan Week, titled ‘Cultural China, Splendid Sichuan’, running from April 20-23.
Delegates covering areas including education, tourism and investment, will experience first-hand the best Victoria has to offer and participate in a range of forums, networking events, business-matching activities, and site visits.
The visit, initiated by the Governor of Sichuan Province, will help connect senior trade delegates from the province with key segments of the Victorian economy.
Engagement with western China, particularly Sichuan Province, is a priority for the Labor Government.
The Province is one of the fastest growing regions in western China, with a population of more than 90 million and GDP of more than A$580.5 billion.
The delegation will further strengthen the partnership between Victoria and the Sichuan Province and reinforces the importance of an existing Victorian Government Business Office in the capital, Chengdu.
Mr Somyurek said the Labor Government was committed to attracting investment and trade to strengthen Victoria’s economic diversity.
