Victoria’s reputation as a key destination for international students has been reaffirmed.

Latest data shows that a record number of international students have chosen Victoria for further study.

The state's universities and schools attracted 175,000 overseas students in 2015, up from 160,000 the year before.

Victoria’s universities are rated among the best in the world and the state is ranked second only to Paris as the most popular destination for international students in the world.

International education is Victoria's largest services export, generating more than $5.6 billion for the state economy and supporting 30,000 jobs in 2015 - up from $4.8 billion in 2014.

The sector has doubled in value in the past decade, when it was worth $2.8 billion.

New data shows nearly a third of all international students in Australia now choose to study in Victoria, another record high.
