The business

Spruikit is a communications consultancy that provides a range of services to help organisations and their people present better.

Started some eight years ago, the business specialises in face-to-face training in presentation, media, voice and communication skills, and image development.

During that time, they have helped thousands of people 'find their voice' and be more comfortable giving formal presentations, talking to media and making powerful sales pitches.

Spruikit conducts training for government, business and not-for-profit clients all over Australia.

How they resolved their issues

With their former headquarters in rented office space in inner city Richmond, Spruikit turned to the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) for advice on their lease.

'We had a range of problems with our real estate agent and the Small Business Commissioner* helped us to resolve the situation without the need to go to a lawyer', says owner, Peter Grimes.

The business is now concentrating on delivering its special brand of speaker training around Australia.

'It's very satisfying to see people at the end of our session with them', says Peter. 'Just one day can make such a difference'.

The VSBC provides a quick, effective, and low cost dispute resolution service for businesses in dispute with other businesses or government.

Many disputes are resolved at no cost through early engagement by experienced officers.

The VSBC has a mediation success rate of around 80 per cent, avoiding the cost, delay and distraction of litigation.
