The background

The Springhill Farm business began more than 30 years ago when children would visit for a day on the farm, culminating with them enjoying a home-made muesli bar before heading home.

From those beginnings, Springhill Farms' range of muesli bars and fingers can now be found in food stores such as Thomas Dux, at Hudson's Coffee outlets and on Virgin Australia flights.

Review for success

Eight years ago, the business opened a purpose-designed facility and decided it was time to look more closely at their operation.

'We determined that, while our customers were very happy, our rate of sale was not as consistent as we required,' says Business Development Manager and company owner, Fiona Whatley.

They embarked on the Grow Your Business program and, through that, appointed a business consultant who conducted a category review on their products and competitors, and also identified consumers' desire to downsize their treats.
