Empowering staff for a brighter future

The best thing about running our own business is the ability to make the people we work with better leaders. Inspiring them through training and empowerment is a great thrill.

About the business

Bress is a multi-faceted farming enterprise, best known as an award-winning winery that prides itself on biodynamic farming, nurturing its staff and caring for its community.

The business founder and owner, Adam Marks, has been making wine for 27 years and established the Bress label 13 years ago.

'We work to a simple set of values,' he explains.  'We treat people - staff, customers and suppliers - the way we like to be treated ourselves. It's a living philosophy and one that seems to work very well for us.'

With the main emphasis placed on sustainable production practice, Bress has achieved great results.  A recent Victorian Government program, Meet the Winemaker, has also opened doors to a number of new Asian markets.

As Adam says, 'These are very exciting times.'

About the Meet the Winemaker Program

Meet the Winemaker is part of the Victoria Invitation Program, designed to host a series of inbound trade missions to promote investment and trade with Victoria.

Held in May this year, Meet The Winemaker was Victoria’s first large-scale inbound trade mission that was specifically tailored to the wine industry.

The mission introduced more than 100 international delegates to Victoria’s key wine producing regions and exposed smaller wineries to new export opportunities.

It enabled the Victorian Government to showcase the quality and variety of Victorian wine and the state’s diverse winemaking techniques to overseas buyers.

It also provided an opportunity for Victorian wineries to pursue new contracts and meet with existing customers.
