The business

Sage Technology, based in the Latrobe Valley, has been making industrial workplaces safer with its range of software solutions since 1998.

Every day, thousands of workers in the mining, power, coal, manufacturing, oil, gas, paper, water and services industries rely on Sage Technology's safe work systems that integrate risk assessment, isolation management and permit procedures that reduce the risks associated with hazardous energy sources.

With a range of secured domestic customers, the business' founder and Managing Director, Lynda Bertoli, says international business development is based on their market niche as a 'clever, green and exportable business'.

How they expanded

'We need access to international markets via recognised, credible agencies and so have been involved with the Victorian Government Business Offices for some time'.

Sage Technology has participated in export-focused visits to the Middle East and Asia.

'The trips have helped us to search out international partners, new customers and local representation, while also providing us with a great way to be introduced to new countries and new cultures', Lynda says.

'If you want to export, you have to start by investigating new possibilities'.

Latrobe Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund

The Latrobe Valley Industry and Infrastructure Fund (LVIIF) enables local businesses to take advantage of emerging opportunities and to provide for increased exports or import substitution operations.

The fund partners local enterprise in developing new directions for businesses seeking to adjust and reposition themselves for a sustainable long term future.

It supports small business to meet the challenge of transition to enable growth and diversification.

The LVIIF funds projects that create new long term jobs and secures existing business operations. It also helps local businesses leverage private sector investment for growth.
