About the KBN

What is the Koori Business Network?

The Koori Business Network (KBN) is the Victorian Government's lead agency in the growth and promotion of Indigenous economic development.

It was established to facilitate the development and sustainability of a dynamic and diverse Indigenous business sector in Victoria, and has been facilitating success with Indigenous Victorians in business since its inception in 1999.

The KBN forms part of Small Business Victoria within the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD), and operates from an office on Exhibition Street in Melbourne's CBD. A key element of the KBN's role is to provide targeted support to Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs as well as identifying and maximising opportunities to access and increase Indigenous business capacity.

The KBN delivers a number of programs structured in accordance with the KBN's strategic policy and linked closely with industry networks and business contacts.

The KBN's vision

The KBN aspires to increase the number of successful, dynamic and diverse Victorian Indigenous businesses participating in the Victorian economy.

What services does the KBN provide?

The KBN:

• provides practical advice and supported access to a comprehensive range of business development and support services
• encourages and facilitates the development of networks among Koori businesses, Koori business operators and mainstream business groups
• facilitates strategic partnerships between government and non-government agencies and Koori organisations with the aim of economic policy development and program delivery
• promotes links between the Koori community and the private sector to encourage increased economic participation, and
• showcases Koori enterprises, products and services across all sectors of the Victorian community
