The 2007 Strategic Plan aims to realise the Government's vision for Victoria to be recognised as one of the world's top five biotechnology locations by building on Victoria's leadership in health and agricultural biotechnology and exploring new opportunities in emerging areas of the bioeconomy.
The Plan builds on Victoria’s strong research base, world class infrastructure, skilled workforce and supportive regulatory environment. In this environment, Victorian biotechnology companies in the three years from 2004 to 2007 secured more than $4 billion in deals, spent over $500 million on research and development and attracted more than 40 percent of biotechnology funds invested across Australia.
The 2007 Strategic Plan and a Progress Report against the 2004 Strategic Plan are now available for download, as well as a summary of the actions earmarked for the first year of the plan.
