Providing competitive grants for co-investment in partnerships that strengthen Victoria's science and technology capabilities, lead to market outcomes and encourage business investment in R&D.

The Victorian Government recognises that science, technology and innovation are key drivers of future prosperity and quality of life.

The Innovation and Technology division in the Department of Business and Innovation,  supports the ongoing development of a scientifically and technologically advanced Victoria.

Biotechnology

Defines biotechnology and genetic engineering. Reviews traditional uses of biotechnology and modern biotechnology and mentions risks in biotechnology practices.

Strategic emerging technology sectors

Introduces some strategic emerging technology sectors including environmental, small and platform technologies and the Australian Synchrotron.

Offers a definition of innovation, outlines the Victorian Government's commitment to science, technology and innovation and reviews the STI Initiative. Includes a PDF on the 2009 STI Initiative Impact Assessment.

Australian Synchrotron

Describes the Australian Synchrotron in Clayton and outlines how it will benefit Victoria and Australia. Links to the Australian Synchrotron site.
