Regional Development Victoria

Regional Development Victoria (RDV) is the Victorian Government's lead agency in developing rural and regional Victoria and was established as a statutory body by the Regional Development Victoria Act 2002, and began operation on 3 March 2003. RDV is responsible to the Minister for Regional and Rural Development, Jacinta Allan.

Our focus is on investment attraction, job creation, exports, creating stronger economies, communities and infrastructure to create a strong and growing provincial Victoria. There are a number of programs to:

  • promote business and industry development
  • work with local government and communities
  • help new businesses establish themselves
  • pave the way for existing industries to grow and diversify.

Industry Investment

Outlines the role of Regional Development Victoria (RDV) and how it supports and advises rural and regional businesses involved in natural resource development, the food industry, and specialist rural industries such as agricultural machinery, feed and fertilisers, irrigation, and food-processing machinery.

Regional infrastructure development fund (RIDF)

Summarises the programs that the State Government funds for capital projects in rural and regional Victoria, along with program reviews, guidelines for applying, and a full list of approved projects over the last five years.

Research and policy development in regional Victoria

RDV conducts research, develops and implements policy and analyses issues that affect economic and community development in rural and regional Victoria.

Regional Strategic Planning

The Regional Strategic Planning branch operates within Regional Development Victoria and aims to optimize coordination over all the tiers of government in the preparation development and delivery of a blueprint, a plan for the future growth of Regional Victoria.
