Community Regional Industry Skills Program (CRISP II)

Project aim

The Community Regional Industry Skills Program (CRISP II) is intended to contribute to the generation of industry development, new jobs, increased skills and improved services for rural and regional communities.

The Government has provided $5 million for the period 2003/4 to 2006/7 to fund CRISP Business to provide targeted assistance to tackle skill shortages and create sustainable industries and jobs across country Victoria. As part of the Provincial Statement, Moving Forward, a further $5.5m has been provided for the period 2005/6 to 2009/10 to expand and extend CRISP Business. This expanded program, designated CRISP II, is a new and separate program to the original CRISP Business program.

The expanded program provides an additional avenue to support the enhancement of business skills, and enables municipal councils, business and community organisations to access CRISP funding to address skill needs. The expanded program also has a focus on maintaining the participation of mature age workers in the Victorian workforce.

Nature of assistance

The level of assistance will depend on available funding and will also be influenced by the level of business/community support and the outcomes expected.

Eligibility criteria

Generally businesses (including business and regional development organisations), municipal councils and community groups (for projects that are undertaken in conjunction with a council) that are operating in rural and regional Victoria may apply for assistance. Businesses preparing to establish operations in rural and regional Victoria may also apply.

More program information is available online at the CRISP II Guidelines.  Both an online and downloadable version of these guidelines are available.

Application
